Darrington Strong Board Meeting Minutes
Monday, February 19, 2024
The meeting was held at Rick’s home and Marla called the meeting to order.
Attendees: Carson Tavenner, Dawn Erickson, Marla Skaglund, Rick Knight, Roselie Rasmussen, Savannah Richter
Approval of the Monthly Treasurer’s Report:
Carson submitted the current treasurer’s report for review (showing a $33,152.49 balance for all accounts). Rick moved to “approve the treasurer’s report for January 15, 2024″, Roselie seconded and the motion carried.
Approval of Last Meeting’s Minutes:
Roselie moved to “approve the minutes of the January 15, 2024 Darrington Strong Board meeting”; Rick seconded and the motion carried.
Website Updates:
Roselie reported that she has cancelled five of the domains we were retaining on our Go-Daddy account due to non-use.
Unfinished Business:
DS Board Retreat: Light discussion about scheduling the event. The dates will remain at 9:00 AM -1:00 PM on Saturday, April 27 & May 4.
New Business:
“Summer in the Park”: Marla led a discussion about the festivities happening over the July 4th weekend and the role of Darrington Strong in the event. The archers will be in town that weekend & Carson mentioned the potential for a three day event. He will contact the chainsaw carvers to assess their interest. Roselie suggested a community potluck.
Activities Poster: Carson proposed that Darrington Strong sponsor/publish a poster showing all Darrington area events through the course of the summer season. The placards would be posted around town and also in Arlington businesses.
Stilly Valley Newsletter: Marla mentioned that Dianne at the Stilly Valley Chamber told her she will post any submissions we want in their newsletter.
Rock the Mountain Festival: Marla proposed that Darrington Strong become a sponsor ($1,000.00 level) for the upcoming festival to be held the third weekend in August.
Darrington Strong Updates:
DS Community Meeting: Laura Deil from the new Family Dollar/Dollar Tree store will speak at the meeting. Sandy McCauley, the current manager of the Abbott-Wolfe center wants us to meet there and will support us in any way she can. Carson will announce the winners of the Lookout Awards at the meeting. It was also discussed that Nancy from Darrington Bluegrass Association might provide an update on their organization and the upcoming summer activities and opportunities for volunteering at the event.
Stilly Valley Chamber Luncheon: Marla reported on the event in Arlington & that it had a big turnout.
