Darrington Strong Board Meeting Minutes
Monday, September 18, 2023
The meeting was held at Rick’s home and Marla called the meeting to order.
Attendees: Dawn Erickson, Marla Skaglund, Rick Knight, Roselie Rasmussen, Savannah Richter, Sylvia Stauffer (guest)
Approval of the Monthly Treasurer’s Report:
No treasury report was submitted for approval.
Approval of Last Meeting’s Minutes:
Rick moved to “approve the minutes of the August 21, 2023 Darrington Strong Board meeting; Savannah seconded and the motion carried.
Unfinished Business:
Mountain Life Festival: Marla gave a brief overview of the festival concept and announced that the first meeting will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, September 21 at the Hampton Lumber conference room.
New Business:
Sylvia outlined her plans for Dot Park and solicited help from the group. She will be meeting with the mayor & utilities tomorrow morning to discuss plans for the park which will include fencing and a children’s play area. A work party will occur on October 7 to spread chips over the planting beds and a pruning day will also be scheduled.
Darrington Strong Updates:
Community Meeting: Plans were discussed for the October 18 meeting featuring Reid Shockie as the guest speaker to discuss & answer questions about the town’s comprehensive plan. Seating layout and snacks were discussed. The meeting will be held at the Darrington Community Center at 7:00 PM.
Library Book Brigade:
Dawn recapped the event, with the book brigade starting at 9:00 AM and the ribbon cutting at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 30, which will be the start to a week of events at the library.
