Darrington Strong Board Meeting Minutes
Monday, June 19, 2023

The meeting was held at Darrington Coffee Co. and Marla Skaglund opened the meeting.

Attendees: Carson Tavenner, Dawn Erickson, Marla Skaglund, Rick Knight, Roselie Rasmussen, Savannah Richter

Approval of the Monthly Treasurer’s Report:
Carson presented the treasurer’s report. Roselie moved to “approve the treasurer’s report as submitted”; Rick seconded and the motion carried.

Approval of Last Meeting’s Minutes:
Carson moved to “approve the minutes of the May 17, 2023 Darrington Strong Board meeting; Savannah seconded and the motion carried.

Website Updates:
Savannah will meet with Martha later in the week to discuss her taking over the websites in Martha’s absence. Roselie will add dates & times for committee meetings to the darringtonstrong.org site. Carson mentioned that the information on discoverdarrington.com about the senior center was incorrect. Savannah will soon update the site with new photos and also update the calendar.

Unfinished Business:
Darrington Day Celebration: Savannah reported that we have 25 vendors signed up so far. Carson said we need volunteers to help carry vendor’s supplies from the curb to their placement in the park. Savannah estimated the need for 15 volunteers. Set-up time will be 7:30-10:00 AM. North Counties will manage the pickleball games in the tennis courts. The high school boys baseball team will run the dunk tank. There may be two chainsaw carvers who haven’t committed yet. Music will include the “Voice of the Village” and others; Ken & Joanne Milton will handle the sound system. Pam Fritchman will photograph the event. Savannah suggested moving next year’s event to the July 4th weekend & other options were discussed.

New Business:
July 19 General Meeting: Savannah reported that the meeting (and future meetings) will be held at the Mansford Grange, where Dianne from the Stilly Valley Chamber will enlighten us about her experience with the Arlington farmer’s market.

Dot Park: Dawn presented Sylvia Stauffer’s comprehensive outline of work needed at the park & potentially soliciting help at the park & other town beautification projects at future DS community meetings.

LTAC Grant: Marla introduced the topic of applying for the Snohomish County Lodging Tax Advisory Committee grant to fund future Darrington Day Celebration events.

Future Community Meetings: October theme: Family Dollar store currently being built.
