Darrington Strong Board Meeting Minutes
Monday, October 16, 2023
The meeting was held at Rick’s home and Marla called the meeting to order.
Attendees: Dawn Erickson, Marla Skaglund, Rick Knight, Savannah Richter, Carson Tavenner (by phone)
Approval of the Monthly Treasurer’s Report:
Marla submitted the current treasurer’s report for review, Rick moved to “approve the treasurer’s report for October 16, 2023″, Savannah seconded and the motion carried.
Approval of Last Meeting’s Minutes:
Savannah moved to “approve the minutes of the September 18, 2023 Darrington Strong Board meeting”; Dawn seconded and the motion carried.
Unfinished Business:
Dot Park Improvements: Rick reported on the progress at Dot Park including the pruning/chip spreading work party and the new chain-link fence to be installed later in the week.
New Business:
Future Community Meetings: Marla initiated a brief discussion of potential topics for upcoming meetings. Fire reporting was mentioned as a possibility for the April meeting.
Darrington Strong Updates:
DS Community Meeting: Light discussion on the game plan for the upcoming October 18 meeting. Paul Wagner will speak on the status of the Darrington Collaborative, Sylvia Stauffer will recap the work being done at Dot Park, then Reid Shockie will give his presentation on the town’s comprehensive plan.
Friends of North Mountain: Carson updated us on the unfortunate emergency at the lookout in late September and his interaction with the deceased’s family. Rick reported on the process of shuttering the lookout for the season.
Harvest Festival: Savannah reported that they made $170.00 which was enough to pay the water bill.
